    Misty Copeland

    The first African-American principal dancer at American Ballet Theatre, breaking barriers and inspiring future generations.


     Misty Copeland’s journey to becoming the first African-American principal dancer at the prestigious American Ballet Theatre (ABT) is a story of perseverance, passion, and overcoming obstacles. Raised in a modest background, Misty began ballet at a late age, and it wasn't long before she became a beacon of hope for young dancers everywhere.


    Throughout her career, Misty has shattered the limitations imposed by race and body type in classical ballet. Her strength, grace, and resilience are a testament to the power of breaking boundaries. She has become not only a role model for dancers but also an advocate for diversity in the arts. Beyond her technical prowess, Misty’s story reminds us that ballet, like all forms of art, can be a vehicle for empowerment and social change.


    Achievements:

    • First African-American female principal dancer at American Ballet Theatre (ABT).
    • Author of the memoir Life in Motion: An Unlikely Ballerina.

    Malcolm-Jamal Warner

     An actor, director, and advocate, using his platform to inspire through storytelling and creative expression.


    Malcolm-Jamal Warner first became a household name for his iconic role as Theo Huxtable on The Cosby Show, one of the most influential TV series in American history. What followed was a career marked not only by his acting but also his transition into directing, producing, and his growing advocacy for social justice and creative expression.


    Warner’s commitment to using art as a platform for meaningful change has led him to become a powerful voice in both the entertainment industry and the broader community. Beyond his work in film and television, he has explored poetry and music, releasing his own album and collaborating with various artists. Warner believes in the power of storytelling to heal and provoke change, and he continuously uses his platform to address critical issues facing marginalized communities.

    • Starred in The Cosby Show and many other notable TV shows and films.
    • Released the critically acclaimed album “Love and Other Social Issues” blending music, poetry, and storytelling.
    • Advocate for social change, education, and artistic integrity.
    • Co-founder of the non-profit The Brotherhood Sister Sol, supporting youth development in underserved communities.
